On June 21 and 22, 2024, a group of Borris Lacemakers visited Headford. The Borris group were successful in their application for the visit under the Network Support Grant from DCCI. Headford Lace Project accepted to host the 11 lacemakers. The focus of the visit was to exchange skills and share ideas. On the afternoon of their arrival, we had a ‘meet and greet’. This, to address any questions but to encourage them to take the geo-located audio experience of the Headford Lace Trail.
The following day began with an introduction to basic bobbin lacemaking skills; a presentation giving an over view of our HLP approach – to research, to revive and reimagine Headford lace. The Borris lacemakers brought a display of their needle tape lace; we in HLP displayed some items from our extensive archive. The visit concluded with a very informative ‘sharing of ideas’ session.
