Lace Workshops

Headford Lace Project runs several bobbin lacemaking workshops throughout the year with our wonderful tutor, Jackie Magnin. We also invite visiting instructors to teach other Irish laces, including needlepoint, needlerun, Irish crochet, tatting, applique, and embroidery techniques.

OUR NEXT WORKSHOP WEEKEND IN BOBBIN LACE IS 25-26 JANUARY 2020 AT THE ANGLER'S REST HOTEL, HEADFORD.

Saturday 25th January 2020

Bobbin Lace Projects for Improvers with Jackie Magnin: 10am-4pm

200117 jan projects
Left to right: Patterns by Gillian Dye, Jackie Magnin, Claire Buckhard, and Gillian Dye.

If you've already got some basics and are eager to start a new project, then Jackie will help you choose one of the above options, appropriate to your level and guide you through it. You can work with traditional white/cream threads or introduce some colour to brighten up the final winter month! We have lots of threads to choose from included in the price. We assume you already have your lacemaker's pillow and bobbins to bring along, but if not, just let us know in advance and we can have some ready for you to borrow (or purchase).
€30. Limited places. Booking essential.

Contact us to book.

Headford Lace Project Annual General Meeting: 5-6pm

As usual we have prepared our annual report. We invite all our followers to come along and hear about the work completed in 2019 and our plans for the upcoming year 2020, as Galway becomes European Capital of Culture. Nominations for election to the committee are required in writing in advance of the AGM by 18th January.

Free of Charge. No booking required, but we'd love if you would let us know if you can make it, so that we have an idea of numbers.

Lacemakers Gathering: 10am-5pm

Spend some time working on your own projects (any lacemaking technique), in the company of other lace-makers. Or bring along some lace items for 'show and tell'. Our tutor Jackie will be busy next door, so this session is largely about practising by yourself and sharing stories of lacemaking with others. We'll leave the door open for members of the public to visit and see a display of lace, etc.

Free of Charge. No booking required, but we'd love if you would let us know if you can make it, so that we have an idea of numbers.
